Tes TOEFL yang umum di Indonesia yaitu tes TOEFL ITP. Tes TOEFL ITP dipergunakan untuk mendaftar beasiswa dalam negeri, sebagai persayaratan untuk masuk ke universitas yang umumnya untuk gelar master (S2), syarat mencari lowongan pekerjaan, kerja di perusahaan swasta, dan masih banyak kegunaann lainnya.
Dalam tes TOEFL ITP, peserta ujian akan menemui 3 sesi. Sesi Listening Comprehension, Structure and Written Expression, dan sesi Reading Comprehension. Sesi listening terdiri dari 50 soal dengan waktu kerja soal 35 menit, sesi structure sebanyak 40 nomor dengan waktu kerja soal 25 menit, dan sesi reading berjumlah 50 nomor dengan waktu kerja 55 menit.
